Pray Till the Wheels Fall Off

 2 Kings 13:14-21 

Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would die. Then Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, “O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and their horsemen!”

And Elisha said to him, “Take a bow and some arrows.” So he took himself a bow and some arrows. Then he said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow.” So he put his hand on it, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands. And he said, “Open the east window”; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot”; and he shot. And he said, “The arrow of the LORD’s deliverance and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; for you must strike the Syrians at Aphek till you have destroyed them.” Then he said, “Take the arrows”; so he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; so he struck three times, and stopped. And the man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times.”

Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year. So it was, as they were burying a man, that suddenly they spied a band of raiders; and they put the man in the tomb of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.

 

One of the lessons that I have learned over the years is to keep praying in faith when I have God’s promise.“Put your hand on the bow.” So he put his hand on it, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.   The Price and Cost for more of God and His Presence I was reading an account of a preacher’s experience that I had previous heard him describe before in a sermon. Thought the account was familiar to me this time though it hit different.   The experience was during a time he had spent months desiring and seeking more of God and His Presence.  There were two statements that the preacher made from this account that the Lord highlighted for me.  The first was “My request for more of God carried a price” and the second was from his cry to the Lord “I must have more of You at any cost!”. The Worst Time

  The Worst Time   2 days ago, as I was praying, I said to the LORD that this was the worst time for my house to have a fire. It is winter, construction costs high and getting hire, interest rates are still high and before I could had more to the list Holy Spirit interrupted. He said that actually this was the perfect time. He reminded me of the 2 times in my life that God provided for me the most.  The first when I was going to college and didn’t know how I was going to pay for it. I had no hope for a scholarship yet God gave me one that I didn’t even apply for. We farmed and that year we had a horrible drought and most of our crops were on sandy soil with no irrigation but we had the best year we ever had.  The second time was during the great recession in 08 when I lost my job and there wasn’t a job to replace it.
